The McKillop Law Firm Story
We are a family-run law firm serving the needs of our clients across the State of Florida since 2007.
Our Sarasota team provides legal services primarily in Sarasota, Manatee and Charlotte counties and the surrounding areas.
Our Jacksonville team provides legal services primarily in Duval County and the surrounding counties.
We provide legal services throughout Florida in these areas:

Julia C. McKillop
Attorney/Partner
Julia focuses her law practice on estate planning, trust administration, and probate administration.
Her estate planning practice includes wills, trust agreements, and medical advance directives for individuals and families across Florida. She helps people of all ages by designing comprehensive, personalized estate plans.
As a subset of estate planning, Julia also works with clients in the arena of asset protection. Julia is a title agent for Old Republic National Title Insurance Company (The Fund) and Chicago Title Insurance Company (Fidelity National Financial), bringing valuable real estate knowledge to her estate planning and asset protection work.
Julia is a graduate of the University of Florida Levin College of Law (class of Fall 2007) and is a founding partner of McKillop Law Firm. Prior to becoming a lawyer, Julia lived in Chile teaching English as a second language. Upon returning to the States, she worked in Miami as a paralegal, ultimately deciding to go to law school in order to put her life experiences to work as an advocate and counselor.
Julia is a participating member of WealthCounsel, Jacksonville Business Professionals, and the Estate Planning Counsel of Northeast Florida.
These days, when she’s not lawyering or parenting, Julia keeps busy coaching her sons’ soccer teams and getting out onto hiking and mountain bike trails any chance she gets.
Daniel McKillop
Attorney/Partner
H. Daniel McKillop is the founder and managing partner of McKillop Law Firm. Dan is a loving husband and father to two fabulous children. Dan takes pride in helping people through financial difficulties, providing legal advocacy and support during tough times.
Dan was an Air Force captain prior to attending law school at the University of Florida Levin College of Law. His duty assignments included deployments to Iraq, the Philippines, and various stints in east Asia.
Dan is also an ironman triathlete. He completed Ironman Texas in April 2019 and many half-ironman and shorter distance races.
Dan’s practice includes:

- Real estate litigation
- General civil lawsuits
Ian McKillop
Attorney/Partner
Ian McKillop’s practice focuses on residential and commercial real estate, real estate litigation, and business entity formation. He is an authorized title agent with Old Republic Title Insurance Company and Chicago Title Insurance Company and regularly performs real estate closings for investors, homeowners and agents.
For five years prior to joining McKillop Law Firm, Ian was a complex commercial and real estate litigator at a premiere Jacksonville law firm.
Ian graduated magna cum laude from the Florida State University College of Law, where he served as Managing Editor of FSU Law Review and interned for the Honorable Judge Hinkle of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Florida.
