McKillop Meetups is our free educational series where real estate and estate planning experience becomes practical, useful learning for our community.  Our team has supported buyers, sellers, real estate agents, lenders, builders, and investors through a wide range of residential and commercial transactions, and helped individuals and families put estate plans in place. Because of that, we understand how valuable education and connection are, no matter which side of the table you’re on.

Each session in the McKillop Meetups series is free and features an industry professional or attorney sharing real, practical insight. Some sessions are built for real estate professionals, covering the closing process, current trends, and issues that affect your clients. Others are for individuals and families working through wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and healthcare directives.

Want to stay in the loop? Join our email list to be notified of upcoming sessions. If you have a topic you’d love to see covered, feel free to reach out. We’d love to collaborate.

What Every Real Estate Agent Needs to Know About the New FinCEN Requirements
Held on Wednesday, February 4, 2026

Presented by:
John H. Gonzalez, CLC
Vice President, Agency Education & Development
Fidelity National Financial Florida Agency

At the time of this session, new federal requirements were set to take effect on March 1, 2026, impacting how real estate professionals handle certain real estate transactions. These regulations were created to help combat fraud, money laundering, and illegal activities, and the session covered what types of transactions would need to be reported, what information would need to be collected, what qualifies as a “beneficial owner,” and the penalties for noncompliance. Want to catch the next session? Join our email list to be notified when new McKillop Meetups are announced.

Update: On March 19, 2026, a federal court vacated the rule, and it is not currently in effect. Real estate professionals are not required to file these reports at this time. FinCEN has appealed the ruling, so the rule’s status could change. You can check FinCEN’s Residential Real Estate Rule newsroom for the latest updates.
